Pakistan Super League: Teams, Winners & PSL 2027 Updates
Data checked 28 August 2026
The Pakistan Super League (PSL) is Pakistan’s men’s franchise T20 competition. Peshawar Zalmi won the latest completed edition, HBL PSL 11, by beating Hyderabad Kingsmen by five wickets in the final at Gaddafi Stadium on 3 May 2026. That was Peshawar’s second title.
The next edition is HBL PSL 12 in 2027. The PCB said its playing window would be discussed at a Governing Council meeting near the end of August 2026, but it had not published the dates, fixtures or venues when this page was checked on 28 August. Any exact PSL 2027 schedule shown elsewhere before that release is not treated as confirmed here.

What is confirmed about PSL 2027?
Only the edition and year are confirmed: HBL PSL 12 is the 2027 Pakistan Super League. The PCB has approved the edition’s budget and said work is continuing on its playing window, schedule, retentions, direct signings and playing conditions.
The exact start date, final date, venues and match list remain unannounced. This distinction matters because unofficial pages are already displaying precise 2027 fixtures. A plausible date is still not an official date. This hub will add the schedule only after the PCB or HBL PSL publishes it.
When the release arrives, the current-status block will be replaced with:
- the complete fixture list in date order;
- venue and city details;
- Pakistan Standard Time start times where confirmed;
- the competition format and qualification route;
- official ticket information; and
- legal territory-specific broadcast information once rights holders confirm it.
The URL will stay /pakistan-super-league/; the year in the title and current information will change without creating a duplicate permanent hub.
Current PSL teams
The league expanded from six to eight teams for HBL PSL 11. The later official 2026 schedule identifies the current field below.
| Team | PSL titles | Winning seasons |
|---|---|---|
| Islamabad United | 3 | 2016, 2018, 2024 |
| Lahore Qalandars | 3 | 2022, 2023, 2025 |
| Peshawar Zalmi | 2 | 2017, 2026 |
| Karachi Kings | 1 | 2020 |
| Multan Sultans | 1 | 2021 |
| Quetta Gladiators | 1 | 2019 |
| Hyderabad Kingsmen | 0 | — |
| Rawalpindi Pindiz | 0 | — |
Hyderabad and Rawalpindi were the two additions that appeared in the final 2026 competition schedule. Earlier announcements made during the franchise sale used provisional city identities; this page follows the team names in the later official fixture release rather than preserving an outdated pre-season list.
Every PSL winner, 2016 to 2026
| Season | Edition | Champion |
|---|---|---|
| 2016 | PSL 1 | Islamabad United |
| 2017 | PSL 2 | Peshawar Zalmi |
| 2018 | PSL 3 | Islamabad United |
| 2019 | PSL 4 | Quetta Gladiators |
| 2020 | PSL 5 | Karachi Kings |
| 2021 | PSL 6 | Multan Sultans |
| 2022 | PSL 7 | Lahore Qalandars |
| 2023 | PSL 8 | Lahore Qalandars |
| 2024 | PSL 9 | Islamabad United |
| 2025 | PSL 10 | Lahore Qalandars |
| 2026 | PSL 11 | Peshawar Zalmi |
There have been 11 completed editions and six different champions. Islamabad United and Lahore Qalandars share the lead with three titles. Peshawar Zalmi moved to two in 2026; the other three former champions have one apiece.
What happened in the 2026 PSL final?
Peshawar Zalmi beat Hyderabad Kingsmen by five wickets at Gaddafi Stadium. Hyderabad made 152 for 9. Aaron Hardie took 4 for 27, then scored an unbeaten 56 as Peshawar completed the chase with 14 balls remaining. The official report recorded a final attendance of 32,461.
That result made Peshawar the first champion of the expanded eight-team era and ended a nine-season wait after its first title in 2017. Hyderabad reached the final in its debut season but does not inherit the record of any earlier franchise.
How the eight-team PSL format worked in 2026
HBL PSL 11 used two sets of four teams rather than a full double round-robin. Each team played the other three teams in its own set twice and the four teams in the other set once, for 10 league matches per team.
| Set A | Set B |
|---|---|
| Lahore Qalandars | Hyderabad Kingsmen |
| Karachi Kings | Multan Sultans |
| Quetta Gladiators | Islamabad United |
| Peshawar Zalmi | Rawalpindi Pindiz |
The top four teams in the single overall table advanced to the playoffs. The first two played the Qualifier, while third and fourth met in Eliminator 1. The Qualifier loser then faced the Eliminator 1 winner for the other place in the final.
This is why an eight-team league did not produce 14 league matches per side: every opponent was played, but only the three same-set opponents were played twice. The PCB may retain or change that arrangement for PSL 12; it is not carried forward until the 2027 playing conditions confirm it.
Where was PSL 2026 played?
The original schedule covered six venues. A revised PCB release later consolidated all 44 matches into Lahore and Karachi, with 22 at each city. The final remained at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
That was an edition-specific revision, not a permanent two-city rule. No PSL 2027 venue should be inferred from it. The next edition’s venue table will appear here only after the official 2027 schedule names the grounds.
PSL prize money: use the edition, not an old figure
For HBL PSL 11, the PCB allocated USD 500,000 to the winning franchise and USD 300,000 to the runner-up. Those are 2026 edition figures. They are not labelled as PSL 12 prize money because the 2027 allocations have not been announced in the sources checked.
Prize pools can change between editions and can separate franchise awards, player awards and development funds. SportsMuntra will keep those categories distinct instead of presenting one combined number as the champion’s cheque.
PSL, IPL and international T20 cricket are different
PSL and the Indian Premier League are domestic franchise competitions, not national-team tournaments. SportsMuntra keeps their championship histories separate: the IPL winners list covers India’s league, while the T20 World Cup winners list covers national teams.
The cricket abbreviations guide explains PSL, T20, T20I, NRR and the other shorthand used in schedules and standings. A PSL match is T20 cricket, but it is not a T20 International because the sides are franchises rather than countries.
How this permanent PSL hub will stay current
This page changes when an official source changes the competition: schedule release, venue revision, squad or retention rules, match result, champion, verified broadcast deal or confirmed ticket route. A routine check updates the visible verification time; a material editorial change updates dateModified.
During HBL PSL 12, completed fixtures will move into results rather than disappearing. After the final, the 2027 edition will become a dated historical record while this permanent URL rolls forward to the next officially announced edition. SportsMuntra will not overwrite an old edition’s facts, manufacture a fixture to fill a table or link to unlicensed streams.
