Pakistan vs South Africa Cricket: Results & Head-to-Head
Data checked 28 August 2026
There is no confirmed next Pakistan vs South Africa senior men’s match as of 28 August 2026. Neither board nor the ICC has published a later exact fixture, so this page does not turn an unannounced Future Tours Programme window or a possible 2027 World Cup meeting into a match.
Pakistan won the latest meeting by seven wickets in Faisalabad on 8 November 2025. That completed an eight-match South Africa tour of Pakistan: the Tests finished 1-1, while Pakistan won both the T20I and ODI series 2-1.
The Pakistan cricket team schedule and South Africa cricket team schedule carry each side’s wider confirmed calendar. This permanent page remains focused on the shared rivalry and will add a future meeting only after an official source confirms it.
Pakistan vs South Africa head-to-head record
South Africa lead the Test and ODI records. Pakistan hold a one-win advantage in T20Is.
| Format | Matches | Pakistan wins | South Africa wins | Draw, tie or no-result |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tests | 32 | 7 | 18 | 7 draws |
| ODIs | 90 | 36 | 53 | 1 no-result |
| T20Is | 27 | 14 | 13 | 0 |
Record cutoffs: Tests through 23 October 2025, ODIs through 8 November 2025 and T20Is through 1 November 2025. The table covers senior men’s internationals. It excludes women’s cricket, A teams, age-group matches, warm-ups, Hong Kong Sixes and other unofficial games.
The totals are not interchangeable. A Test draw cannot be placed in an ODI no-result column, and a tour match does not become an international merely because both countries are named in its title.
Latest Pakistan vs South Africa result
Pakistan won the third ODI at Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad, by seven wickets on 8 November 2025. South Africa were bowled out for 143; Pakistan reached 144 for 3 in 25.1 overs. Abrar Ahmed took 4 for 27 and Saim Ayub made 77 not out.
That victory gave Pakistan the ODI series 2-1. It is the latest completed senior men’s meeting in any format, not simply the latest ODI between the teams.
The eight-match 2025 tour
South Africa’s October-November 2025 visit contained three separate series. Keeping them separated makes the overall result much easier to read.
| Series | Result | Match sequence |
|---|---|---|
| Two Tests | Drawn 1-1 | Pakistan by 93 runs; South Africa by 8 wickets |
| Three T20Is | Pakistan won 2-1 | South Africa by 55 runs; Pakistan by 9 wickets; Pakistan by 4 wickets |
| Three ODIs | Pakistan won 2-1 | Pakistan by 2 wickets; South Africa by 8 wickets; Pakistan by 7 wickets |
The Test matches opened Pakistan’s 2025-27 World Test Championship campaign. The six white-ball matches followed from 28 October to 8 November. Results in one format did not carry points or a series lead into another.
Test record and the drawn 2025 series
South Africa lead the Test record 18-7 after 32 matches, with seven draws. The teams first met at the Wanderers in Johannesburg from 19 to 23 January 1995. South Africa won by 324 runs.
Pakistan won the first Test of the latest series at Lahore by 93 runs. Noman Ali took 10 wickets across the match, while Shaheen Shah Afridi and Noman shared eight wickets in South Africa’s unsuccessful fourth-innings chase.
South Africa answered with an eight-wicket win at Rawalpindi. Simon Harmer took six wickets in Pakistan’s second innings, and South Africa chased 68 to level the two-Test series 1-1. The Test match guide explains why a drawn series is possible even when neither match itself ends in a draw.
ODI record and the 2025 decider
South Africa lead the ODI record 53-36 from 90 matches, with one no-result. The first meeting came at the 1992 World Cup in Brisbane. South Africa won by 20 runs after rain changed Pakistan’s target under the method used at that tournament.
Pakistan won the opening ODI of the latest series by two wickets, reaching 264 with two balls left. South Africa levelled the series when Quinton de Kock’s unbeaten 123 drove an eight-wicket chase in the second match. Pakistan then dismissed South Africa for 143 in the decider and won by seven wickets.
The ODI World Cup winners history provides the tournament context. The first PAK-SA ODI was part of Pakistan’s title-winning 1992 campaign; a possible meeting at the 2027 Cricket World Cup cannot be listed until the ICC publishes the groups and fixtures.
T20I record and Pakistan’s one-win edge
Pakistan lead the T20I record 14-13 after 27 matches. South Africa won the first T20I by 10 wickets at Johannesburg on 2 February 2007, chasing 130 without losing a wicket.
South Africa also won the first match of the 2025 series by 55 runs. Pakistan responded strongly in Lahore: Salman Mirza’s 3 for 14 helped dismiss South Africa for 110 in the second match, and Pakistan won by nine wickets. Babar Azam then made 68 as Pakistan chased 140 in the decider and won by four wickets.
The 2-1 series win moved Pakistan one ahead in the all-time T20I record. It did not change either team’s T20 World Cup title count, because the matches were bilateral internationals rather than tournament games.
First and latest meeting in each format
| Format | First meeting | Latest completed meeting |
|---|---|---|
| Test | Johannesburg, 19-23 January 1995; South Africa won by 324 runs | Rawalpindi, 20-23 October 2025; South Africa won by 8 wickets |
| ODI | Brisbane, 8 March 1992; South Africa won by 20 runs on a revised target | Faisalabad, 8 November 2025; Pakistan won by 7 wickets |
| T20I | Johannesburg, 2 February 2007; South Africa won by 10 wickets | Lahore, 1 November 2025; Pakistan won by 4 wickets |
The latest column uses completed senior men’s internationals. A rumored series, tournament possibility or unofficial match does not displace the latest verified result.
Matches that changed the rivalry
- 1992 World Cup, Brisbane: South Africa won the teams’ first ODI, but Pakistan recovered to win the tournament.
- 1995, Johannesburg: South Africa won the inaugural Test by 324 runs.
- 1998, Durban: Pakistan earned their first Test win over South Africa by 29 runs.
- 2013, Centurion: South Africa completed a 3-0 Test sweep with an innings victory.
- 2017 Champions Trophy, Birmingham: Pakistan beat South Africa by 19 runs under DLS during the campaign that ended with Pakistan taking the title.
- 2021, Pakistan: Pakistan won the home Tests 2-0 and the T20Is 2-1.
- 2023 ODI World Cup, Chennai: South Africa won a one-wicket finish.
- 2025, Pakistan: the Tests finished 1-1 before Pakistan won both white-ball series 2-1.
These are selected turning points, not a ranking. The Champions Trophy winners list separates Pakistan’s 2017 title and South Africa’s 1998 title from their broader bilateral record.
How this permanent page stays current
The URL remains /pakistan-vs-south-africa/. A new fixture enters the upcoming module only when the PCB, Cricket South Africa, ICC or responsible tournament organizer confirms the teams and date. A 2027 World Cup host announcement alone is not enough to create a Pakistan-South Africa match.
After a match, the same controlled record moves into Recent results once the official outcome is checked. The format totals then change with their own cutoffs. Postponements, abandonments, ties and no-results keep their real status rather than being inferred from the calendar.
Aliases such as PAK vs SA, SA vs PAK and Pakistan vs Proteas consolidate here. Future previews, legal viewing guides and recaps can attach to the same entity and appear automatically in its related feed. Pakistan Women vs South Africa Women remains a separate rivalry and is never folded into the men’s figures above.
