World Test Championship 2025-27 Points Table & Final
Data checked 28 August 2026
The World Test Championship 2025-27 points table is led by Australia, with defending champion South Africa second. Those are the current qualifying positions, not confirmed final places. Results and over-rate penalties can still change the order before the competition window closes on 30 April 2027.
The top two teams will meet at The Oval in London from 9 to 13 June 2027. Older pages that name Lord’s are out of date; the ICC confirmed The Oval on 23 July 2026.

Official table checked: 28 August 2026 at 5:05 p.m. PKT. The ICC table can change after a Test result or a points deduction. A live match does not change the standings until its result and any penalty are recorded.
How the WTC points system works
Every eligible Test offers the same result points, regardless of whether it belongs to a two-match or five-match series.
| Result | Championship points |
|---|---|
| Win | 12 |
| Tie | 6 |
| Draw | 4 |
| Loss | 0 |
A team can also lose one championship point for each penalty over when it finishes below the required over rate, after the playing-condition allowances are applied. That deduction comes out of the points total used for the table.
For the match rules behind those results, start with what a Test match is. The follow-on guide explains one of the decisions that can shape a five-day result.
Why PCT matters more than raw points
The standings are ordered by points percentage, usually shortened to PCT. It divides a team’s points after deductions by the maximum 12 points available for every Test it has played:
PCT = points after deductions / (Tests played × 12) × 100
Australia’s current line is a clean example. It has 96 points from 10 Tests, with 120 available. Dividing 96 by 120 gives 0.8, or 80.00 PCT.
This prevents a team from ranking higher simply because it has played more Tests. It does not make every schedule identical: teams still play different opponents and series lengths. It only gives each completed Test the same denominator.
Which teams play in the World Test Championship?
Nine teams contest the 2025-27 cycle: Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka and West Indies.
Pakistan and South Africa opened their campaigns against each other in October 2025 and split the two Tests 1-1. The Pakistan vs South Africa hub keeps both results beside their complete Test record rather than treating the series draw as a points-table tiebreak.
Pakistan and West Indies also split their July-August 2026 Tests 1-1. The Pakistan vs West Indies hub preserves both match results and the wider 58-Test rivalry, while this table records only the championship points earned from the series.
Bangladesh beat Pakistan by 104 runs in Dhaka and 78 runs in Sylhet in May 2026. The Pakistan vs Bangladesh hub keeps that 2-0 sweep within their 17-Test history; the championship table counts only its effect on the current cycle.
Each plays six series in the round stage, three at home and three away. A series must contain between two and five Tests. Afghanistan, Ireland and Zimbabwe hold Test status but are not part of this WTC cycle, so their Test results do not enter this table.
How teams qualify for the 2027 WTC Final
The teams in first and second place when the competition window ends on 30 April 2027 qualify for the final. There is no semi-final, playoff or automatic place for the defending champion.
SportsMuntra will not call a team qualified because a simulator gives it a high probability. A genuine qualification claim must account for every remaining Test, points deductions and the official tiebreak sequence.
If two teams finish on the same PCT, the playing conditions order them by:
- more series wins;
- higher away points percentage;
- the higher ICC Men’s Test Team Ranking on 30 April 2027.
That is why a simple “minimum wins” calculation can be useful without being final. It may assume every other result, no future deductions and no tie on PCT.

The Oval ranks among cricket’s most famous stadiums because it hosted the first Test in England and the match that created the Ashes. It also hosted the 2023 WTC final, won by Australia. The ICC has awarded England the 2027, 2029 and 2031 finals, with the ECB selecting the venue for each edition. The choice is debated by fans, but that debate should not be turned into an invented ICC explanation or a claim that either finalist is already known.
The 2027 international cricket calendar places the final beside the year’s other confirmed international events without creating a match record with placeholder teams.
Pakistan’s current WTC position
Pakistan is ninth in the official table with 16 points from seven Tests and a 19.05 PCT at this check. That snapshot is not a final elimination ruling.
The Pakistan cricket schedule tracks the team’s confirmed Tests and results. Its November home Tests against Sri Lanka are collected on the Sri Lanka tour of Pakistan hub, while the Sri Lanka schedule shows the same fixtures from the touring side.

How this page will stay current
The standings will be checked after every completed WTC Test and after any ICC points-deduction notice. Each update will retain the table’s exact cutoff so a reader can tell whether a match has been included.
When finalists, tickets, start time, prize money and legal viewing rights are official, they will be added to this URL. After the final, the same page will become the permanent 2025-27 archive with the verified result; it will not be rewritten as the 2027-29 cycle.
