The India men’s cricket team represents India in Tests, One Day Internationals and Twenty20 Internationals. The team code is IND, and the Board of Control for Cricket in India is its national governing body.

India’s next confirmed senior men’s match is the first T20I against Afghanistan at Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium in Delhi on 13 September 2026. Afghanistan is the designated host even though the series is being played in India. The joint BCCI-ACB announcement confirmed the date and venue but did not publish a start time, so no unofficial time is shown here.

A player leading one event-specific squad does not make every India side interchangeable. The Asian Games team, for example, can overlap with a bilateral series and may require a different selection. This page changes a format captain only when a new BCCI appointment or official squad provides a clear replacement.

The cutoff is as important as the number. India’s Sri Lanka Tests finished after the saved Test table date, so this page will not imply that the June table already includes that series.

Which India team does this page cover?

“India cricket team” can refer to several representative groups. This hub uses it for the senior men’s international team unless a section says otherwise.

• India Women has its own captains, fixtures, squads and records, with the current India Women schedule kept on a separate permanent page.
• India A is a development side; its multi-day or limited-overs match is not a senior men’s international.
• India U19 and other age groups use separate selections and competitions.
• Asian Games and other event-specific teams may overlap with the senior pool but still require their own squad label and match context.

The distinction prevents an India A tour, youth game or event-specific selection from being displayed as the senior men’s next match or “current squad.”

India, Pakistan and the next World Cup

There is no exact confirmed next senior men’s India-Pakistan fixture as of 28 August 2026. Their permanent Pakistan vs India hub holds the latest result and format-separated head-to-head records; possible participation in the same future tournament is not treated as a scheduled meeting.

India’s place in the 2027 ODI World Cup field will be shown only when the qualification position is official. A current ranking is evidence of form, not permission to publish a provisional team as confirmed.
