Pakistan vs Australia Cricket: Results & Head-to-Head
Data checked 28 August 2026
There is no confirmed next match between Pakistan and Australia’s senior men’s teams as of 28 August 2026. The boards have not published a later fixture with an exact date, venue and competition. A possible meeting at the 2027 ODI World Cup does not become a match row until the ICC publishes the tournament schedule.
The latest meetings were two home series for Pakistan in 2026. Pakistan won all three T20Is in Lahore, then beat Australia 2-1 in an ODI series split between Rawalpindi and Lahore. Those six official PCB results appear in the Recent results table below.
For each side’s complete calendar, use the Pakistan cricket team schedule and Australia cricket team schedule. The Pakistan team hub carries current captains, squad and title history rather than repeating them here.
Pakistan vs Australia head-to-head record
Australia lead the Test and ODI records. Pakistan moved ahead in T20Is after the 2026 clean sweep. Each format has its own cutoff because the teams have not played a Test since January 2024, while their white-ball records changed in 2026.
| Format | Matches | Australia wins | Pakistan wins | Draw, tie or no-result |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tests | 72 | 37 | 15 | 20 draws |
| ODIs | 114 | 72 | 38 | 1 tie; 3 no-results |
| T20Is | 31 | 14 | 16 | 1 no-result |
Record cutoffs: Tests through the Sydney match ending 6 January 2024; T20Is through 1 February 2026; ODIs through 4 June 2026. The table covers senior men’s internationals only and excludes Australia A, Pakistan Shaheens, women’s, youth and unofficial matches.
Some current pages report 34 T20 meetings. That wider number does not match the official T20I result set. SportsMuntra uses 31 Twenty20 Internationals, with Pakistan 16-14 ahead and one no-result.
Test record and the Benaud-Qadir Trophy
Pakistan and Australia first met in a Test at Karachi in October 1956. Pakistan won by nine wickets after Fazal Mahmood took 13 for 114 in the match. Across 72 Tests, Australia have won 37, Pakistan 15 and 20 have been drawn.
The current Test-series trophy is named for Richie Benaud and Abdul Qadir. Australia won the inaugural Benaud-Qadir Trophy 1-0 in Pakistan in 2022, then swept Pakistan 3-0 at home in 2023-24. The latest Test was at the Sydney Cricket Ground, where Australia won by eight wickets on 6 January 2024.
Conditions matter, but the record should not be simplified into a home-team rule. Pakistan’s best-known Test successes include the first Karachi match, Sarfraz Nawaz’s nine-wicket spell at Melbourne in 1979, the one-wicket Karachi finish in 1994 and a 2-0 series win in the UAE in 2014. Australia have built the larger overall lead through long winning runs at home and several neutral-venue victories.
The guide to what a Test match is explains two innings, five-day play, draws and the World Test Championship. The current WTC hub keeps league standings separate from this all-time rivalry record.
ODI record and Pakistan’s three-series run
Australia lead the ODI record 72 wins to 38 from 114 matches. One ODI was tied and three ended without a result. Their first ODI was a 60-over World Cup match at Headingley on 7 June 1975, which Australia won by 73 runs.
Pakistan have won the last three bilateral ODI series between the teams by the same 2-1 score:
- Pakistan in 2022, after losing the opening ODI in Lahore
- Pakistan in Australia in November 2024
- Pakistan at home from 30 May to 4 June 2026
The first ODI of the 2026 series was also Pakistan’s 1,000th ODI. Arafat Minhas took five wickets on debut as Australia were dismissed for 200, and Pakistan won by five wickets. Australia levelled the series with a 41-run win in Lahore before Pakistan bowled Australia out for 157 and won the decider by four wickets.
These bilateral results do not rewrite the tournament record. Australia beat Pakistan by eight wickets in the 1999 World Cup final at Lord’s and have six men’s ODI World Cup titles overall. The Cricket World Cup winners history covers every final and keeps tournament titles separate from bilateral form.
T20I record and the 2026 clean sweep
Pakistan lead the T20I record 16 wins to 14, with one no-result. The first meeting was at the inaugural men’s T20 World Cup in Johannesburg on 18 September 2007, when Pakistan chased 165 and won by six wickets with five balls left.
Australia won all three T20Is at home in November 2024. Pakistan reversed that result in Lahore in 2026:
| Match | Pakistan | Australia | Result |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1st T20I, 29 January | 168/8 | 146/8 | Pakistan won by 22 runs |
| 2nd T20I, 31 January | 198/5 | 108 | Pakistan won by 90 runs |
| 3rd T20I, 1 February | 207/6 | 96 | Pakistan won by 111 runs |
The final margin was Australia’s heaviest T20I defeat at the time. Mohammad Nawaz took 5 for 18 as Australia were bowled out for 96. It was a decisive series, but all three matches were played at the same Lahore venue, so the result is evidence of that tour rather than a promise about the next conditions or squads.
Australia eliminated Pakistan in memorable T20 World Cup semi-finals in 2010 and 2021. The T20 World Cup winners list shows what happened in the complete tournaments rather than treating one knockout match as a bilateral series.

How this permanent page stays current
The URL remains /pakistan-vs-australia/. A new match appears only after the PCB, Cricket Australia, ICC or another responsible organizer confirms its date and opponent. Completed matches move into Recent results from controlled records, while the format table advances only after an official result.
The page keeps aliases such as AUS vs PAK on the same canonical URL. New articles can attach to this rivalry entity, and the Pakistan and Australia schedules retain their broader calendars. A World Cup possibility, FTP window or media report will not be presented as the next match before the event organizer publishes the fixture.
