Pakistan vs Sri Lanka Cricket: Schedule & Head-to-Head

The next Pakistan vs Sri Lanka men’s match is the first T20 International at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on 9 October 2026. The PCB has confirmed the date and venue but has not announced the start or toss time.

It begins a seven-match run between the teams. Three T20Is come first, Pakistan and Sri Lanka then meet twice in a separate ODI tri-series, and two World Test Championship matches close the sequence in November. The Sri Lanka tour of Pakistan 2026 hub covers the three T20Is and two Tests. The Pakistan ODI Tri-Series hub covers the two ODI meetings because England is also involved and the event has its own league table and final.

That distinction prevents a common schedule error. Pakistan and Sri Lanka will play seven times, but only five matches belong to the bilateral tour. The ODI tri-series final is scheduled for 31 October, yet neither side can be added to it until qualification is confirmed.

Pakistan vs Sri Lanka head-to-head record

Pakistan lead the completed senior men’s record in all three international formats. The totals have different cutoffs because the teams last played a Test in 2023, an ODI in 2025 and a T20I in February 2026.

Record cutoffs: Tests through 27 July 2023, ODIs through 16 November 2025 and T20Is through 28 February 2026. The table covers senior men’s internationals. It excludes women’s cricket, A teams, age-group matches, Hong Kong Sixes and other unofficial or non-international games.

The January 2026 series included a second scheduled match that was abandoned before the toss. Because no toss took place, it did not become an official T20I and is not part of the 30-match total. Some current pages claim 33 meetings or turn that washout into a no-result; the official match list supports 30 completed T20Is and an 18-12 Pakistan lead.

Latest Pakistan vs Sri Lanka result

Pakistan won the latest meeting by five runs at the men’s T20 World Cup in Kandy on 28 February 2026. Pakistan made 212 for 8, then held Sri Lanka to 207 for 6. Dasun Shanaka’s 76 from 31 balls kept the chase alive, while Abrar Ahmed took three wickets for Pakistan.

The win did not take Pakistan into the semi-finals, but tournament elimination is separate from the match result. In the rivalry record it counts as Pakistan’s 18th T20I win over Sri Lanka.

The January 2026 T20I series finished 1-1

Pakistan’s short tour of Sri Lanka produced one win apiece and one abandoned fixture:

• 7 January, Dambulla: Pakistan chased 129 and won by six wickets.
• 9 January, Dambulla: persistent rain caused an abandonment before the toss, so the fixture was not recorded as a T20I.
• 11 January, Dambulla: Sri Lanka won a rain-reduced 12-over match by 14 runs under the DLS method.

That made the series score 1-1, not 2-1. The latest World Cup result arrived seven weeks later and belongs to a different competition.

Test record and the 2023 series

Pakistan lead the Test record 23 wins to 17 from 59 matches, with 19 draws. The teams first met at Karachi from 5 to 10 March 1982, less than a month after Sri Lanka played its inaugural Test. Pakistan won by 204 runs.

The latest Test series was in Sri Lanka in July 2023. Pakistan chased 131 to win the first Test at Galle by four wickets, then won the second at the Sinhalese Sports Club by an innings and 222 runs. Abdullah Shafique made 201 and Pakistan declared at 576 for 5 before Noman Ali took seven wickets in Sri Lanka’s second innings.

Pakistan’s 2-0 sweep is the latest Test form between the sides, but it does not decide the two November 2026 matches. ODI record and Pakistan’s 2025 sweep

Pakistan lead the ODI record 96 wins to 59 across 160 matches. One match was tied and four produced no result. Their first ODI meeting was at the 1975 World Cup in Nottingham, where Pakistan scored 330 for 6 in 60 overs and won by 192 runs.

The latest ODI series took place in Rawalpindi in November 2025. Pakistan won all three matches:

• by six runs after defending 299 in the first ODI
• by eight wickets after chasing 289 in the second
• by six wickets after dismissing Sri Lanka for 211 in the third

Before that series, the PCB listed 157 meetings, with Pakistan ahead 93-59. The sweep moved the verified total to 160 and Pakistan’s win count to 96. It did not add three matches to an already updated 160-match figure, which is how an incorrect 163 total can appear.

The two October 2026 meetings will be the next additions to this ODI record. Their results will also sit inside the tri-series standings rather than being described as a bilateral series score.

T20I record and major tournament meetings

Pakistan lead 18-12 in the 30 official T20Is played through February 2026. The first was a World Twenty20 group match in Johannesburg on 17 September 2007. Younis Khan and Shoaib Malik made half-centuries before Pakistan won by 33 runs.

Two years later the teams met in the 2009 final at Lord’s. Sri Lanka made 138 for 6, and Shahid Afridi’s unbeaten 54 helped Pakistan win by eight wickets. Sri Lanka reversed part of that history by beating Pakistan in the 2012 semi-final on the way to the final, then won its own title in 2014. The November 2025 T20I tri-series also produced three meetings. Pakistan won the first league match, Sri Lanka won the second, and Pakistan won the final by six wickets. Those results help explain why a recent-results list needs competition labels rather than a bare sequence of scores.
