Women's Champions Trophy 2027: Teams, Dates & Schedule

Data checked 28 August 2026

The ICC Women’s Champions Trophy 2027 will be played in Sri Lanka from 14 to 28 February 2027. The inaugural tournament has six teams, 16 matches and a T20 format. The ICC has not yet published the match list, named grounds, start times or current playing conditions.

The dates changed in June 2026. Older board calendars and search results that show a June or June-July window are now out of date.

Which teams will play?

The ICC’s composition notice named the five teams occupying the ranking places before the 6 July cutoff. Later ICC coverage treats India, Australia and South Africa as preparing for the tournament, and no official source checked on 28 August announced a changed field.

The ICC article used the phrase “as it stands” because it appeared on 26 June, ten days before the cutoff. SportsMuntra will replace this explanation with a later final-field release if the ICC publishes one. It will not quietly turn a pre-cutoff notice into stronger evidence than it is.

How qualification worked

Sri Lanka takes the host place. The other five places came from the ICC Women’s T20I team rankings at the 6 July 2026 cutoff, not from the final standings at the 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup.

That distinction explains why a strong World Cup run did not automatically secure a Champions Trophy place. The cutoff also made this an elite six-team event rather than an open qualifier. The T20 World Cup winners list keeps the separate 2026 tournament record and shows why the two competitions should not be treated as one pathway.

Did Pakistan Women qualify?

Pakistan was not among the five ranking teams named by the ICC for the Champions Trophy field. Hosting the 2028 Women’s T20 World Cup gives Pakistan a place in that later event, but it does not provide a host or automatic place in the 2027 Champions Trophy.

If the ICC issues a final field notice that changes the composition, this page and the affected team schedules will be updated together.

What format will the tournament use?

The Women’s Champions Trophy is a T20 tournament. That is different from the men’s Champions Trophy, which uses 50-over ODI cricket. The men’s Champions Trophy winners history therefore remains a separate record rather than being extended with the 2027 women’s event.

The ICC has confirmed six teams and 16 matches. It has not yet published current playing conditions that settle the exact advancement sequence. One ICC procurement document describes a round robin, semi-finals and a final, but that wording conflicts with its own 16-match total: a six-team single round robin is already 15 matches, and two semi-finals plus a final would make 18.

SportsMuntra will not choose an inferred answer. The exact league and knockout rule will be added from the final schedule or playing conditions.

When will the full schedule be released?

The tournament window is official, but a date range is not a fixture list. A complete match row needs two named teams, a date, start time, format, ground and responsible source. None of the 16 match records will be created until the ICC supplies those fields.

The 2027 international cricket calendar carries the confirmed event window without inflating its count of exact fixtures. Once the draw and schedule arrive, this hub will become the parent for the tournament’s selected match pages and legal viewing guides.

Which venues will host the matches?

Sri Lanka is the confirmed host. The ICC sources checked on 28 August do not name the grounds or cities.

Procurement documents have estimated two or three venues at different times and warn that the number can change. Those estimates help suppliers prepare bids; they are not a final allocation. Colombo, Dambulla or any other ground will appear here only after the ICC or Sri Lanka Cricket confirms it for this tournament.

Tickets, squads and prize money

No official sale date, ticket route, squad list or prize fund was found in the ICC material checked on 28 August 2026.

  • Ticket links will come from the ICC, Sri Lanka Cricket or an organizer-authorized seller.
  • A squad will appear only after the responsible board announces it and the ICC confirms any replacement.
  • Prize money will remain unlisted until the ICC publishes the 2027 figure.

Old Women’s T20 World Cup amounts and men’s Champions Trophy figures do not establish the value of this event.

Where to watch the Women’s Champions Trophy

Current ICC agreements cover major territories through the tournament window, but match-specific channel and service listings still need confirmation close to play.

A viewing guide will name only legal, territory-specific options confirmed by the ICC or rights holder. It will not recommend piracy sites, copied streams or VPN workarounds.

Why is the women’s event T20 when the men’s event is ODI?

The ICC created this competition as a six-team T20 event in its 2024-31 tournament cycle. The shared Champions Trophy name does not make the two events the same format.

For readers, the practical difference is simple: the women’s matches use T20 rules and innings lengths, while the men’s winners record is an ODI history. The cricket abbreviations guide explains T20I, ODI, TBC and TBD where those labels appear in the schedule.

How this hub will change

This edition keeps the stable URL /womens-champions-trophy-2027/. SportsMuntra will add the official draw, fixtures, grounds and starts when the ICC publishes them. Tickets, squads, broadcasters and weather will be checked on their own timelines rather than being copied into one early update.

During the tournament, confirmed results will replace upcoming rows without creating duplicate preview and result URLs. After the final, this page will stay live as the 2027 archive and link forward to the next Women’s Champions Trophy edition.
